Photographing Ruth and Dan’s wedding was pretty special for me. They are good friends of mine, and my boyfriend was best man, so I felt really honoured to be involved with the photography. As Dan was getting ready at my house with his two best men, I managed to get a few snaps of them before heading over to Ruth to photograph her and her bridesmaids getting ready. It was such a lovely privilege to photograph this intimate wedding in Nottingham. Ruth wore a beautiful fifties style dress by FROCK (whose dresses I photographed in our amazing vintage tea party shoot!) She had her hair done in a sixties style up-do by the amazing Helen Sutcliffe, and makeup by one of my favourite make up ladies Sarah J Gamble. Ruth looked absolutely stunning. The wedding took place in Nottingham City Centre. I don’t often photograph weddings here, so it was lovely to get some photos of Ruth and Dan around the city. A special mention must go to Oisin, Ruth and Dan’s little boy, who was an absolute dapper little gent in his bow tie and converse. The intimate ceremony took place at the Town Hall, and we all went to The Larder afterwards for a low key, and beautiful reception. It was so nice to see all their closest family and friends sitting at one table. I loved photographing this. After the reception, we went by bus to The Boat Club on the river, where we partied into the night. Dan’s mum provided home made jams on all the tables. A lovely little touch. And one of the most surprising and unusual things to photograph was the traditional Irish Straw Boys!! An eccentric Irish tradition, where some gate crashers turn up at your wedding, wearing these crazy straw hats and playing drums. It was amazing. Then we Ceilidh into the night, and I had a good ol dance! It was a fabulous wedding. The Irish and the English partied into the night together. It was so much fun! Here are some of my shots…
Lovely work Kathryn – love a good urban wedding! The black and white shots work especially well in the portraits I think 🙂
