A rustic farm wedding

Hollie and Mike got married on a gorgeous May day and I was there for their rustic farm wedding photography. I asked Hollie and Mike to pick their favourite images from the wedding and this is what Hollie said:

“I can’t even tell you how hard it was to pick our top 5! there are so many photos we love and for so many different reasons but here’s our short list!”

Hollie and Mike’s Favourite Five:

ONE:

Hollie says:

We love this photo because it reminds us of the part of the day where Kathryn took us away from the guests to get couple shots. We thought we would get annoyed with this part of the day as it would take us away from the party but actually it was our favourite time! It gave us chance to just have a moment together; to appreciate the step we had just taken and bask in our happiness.

TWO:

Hollie says:

Our first dance. I love that we are the centre of the shot in our first dance but all our family and friends are around us enjoying the moment with us. This is exactly what our wedding was about – everyone enjoying the day with us.

THREE:

Hollie says:

We simply love this photo! its so artistic and perfect – its as if we are all alone in our wedding bubble. We love it!

FOUR:

Hollie says:

We loved our sparkler aisle it was just so much fun and I think this photo just sums up the amount of fun we had on our wedding day. It was constant smiles and laughs and this photo captures who we are as a couple.

FIVE:

Hollie says:

This photo makes us laugh! we were just having a good time on the dance floor, we weren’t even aware kathryn was there. Its so pulp fiction and we love our expressions.

What was the best decision you made about your wedding day? (advice to future couples)

Our advice to future couples is to have a wedding organiser at the venue – this wasn’t necessarily a decision we made but it came with the venue and now looking back is something we wouldn’t have wanted to be without. Having the venue set up for us on the day meant there was no stress at all, it was all organised to perfection, we were never without a drink in our hand and were completely unaware of the organisation through the day – we could remain in our happy wedding bubble all day which was amazing!

Is there anything you would do differently? (advice to future couples)

Our day was pretty perfect to be honest I wouldn’t change a thing about the day which we feel blessed to be able to say! The only thing I would say is I wish I didn’t stress about the seating plan so much before the wedding – on the day everyone is there for you to celebrate your happiness and will enjoy their meal regardless of who they are sat with.

Can you remember how you found out about Kathryn Edwards Photography?

online – found through searching for wedding photographers and fell in love with the style of Kathryn’s photos (both how she edits and the natural shot she achieves). Meeting Kathryn then sealed the deal!

It’s so lovely to see which photos Hollie and Mike chose and interesting that most of them were shots from the evening. I guess by that time they had a chance to soak everything in and soak into the fun of their wedding party. I love the evening shots when everyone lets their hair down a bit and people are just happy to be there and happy for the couple. This certainly came across at Hollie and Mike’s wedding. It was lots of fun being back at their venue. I think a farm wedding certainly lends itself to some good laid back vibes!

The best of the rest

It is always tricky picking the best photos from the day to put in a blog post. I have selected 36 in order to tell a bit of a story from the beginning to the end. The photos represent moments I enjoyed capturing, fun photos where the bridal party were mucking around and pretty details. These guys were fun. None of that is directed or posed. I simply bounce off the silliness that surrounds me at the time. These were silly and I like silly!

The Couple:

Hollie and Mike were such a pleasure to work with. They did not stop beaming all day and smiley people make for one very happy photographer. Their friends and family were also a joy to work with. Lots of laughs and giggles to capture and fun moments from confetti bubbles to sparklers in the evening. I also really loved all the succulents that were a big part of the decor. On all the tables as well as in Hollie’s bouquet. Beautiful.
