"We love the photos... it's made us want to do the whole day all over again."
Floral Media Wedding Photography
Charlotte and Alex (otherwise known as Lex) got married at St Wilfred’s church in South Muskham and then onto Floral Media for their reception. It was the first time I had done any Floral Media wedding photography and oh my! What a great venue it was. If you like plants and flowers, this really is the place to be! The venue looks like a rustic flower shed from the outside. They call it the “garden room” and it is a lovely space. The grounds are spilling over with plants and flowers that give the whole place a very English country garden feel. It is a lovely place for a wedding with its low key rustic vibes. Suiting Charlotte and Lex down to the ground with their quiet down to earth natures.
I asked Charlotte and Lex to select their favourite 5 images and tell me why they liked them. These are the pictures they chose.
Charlotte and Lex’s favourite five:
ONE:
Charlotte and Lex say:
This photo was just after we got married. After all the build up, this was when we could relax, celebrate and enjoy spending the day with our closest friends and family. Looking at this photo still makes us stop and exclaim ‘we got married!’, even 10 months later.
TWO:
Lex says:
The speech is something I had really wanted to do well. I always like to be prepared, so I wrote the speech a month before, and tweaked and practised it until I felt happy. On the day I felt it went really well, and I actually enjoyed doing it! (I never thought I’d say that!)
THREE:
Charlotte says:
I love this photo! When it came to bridesmaids, I always knew that I wanted my sisters by my side. We kept getting the giggles during the photos, and Kathryn caught us just at the right moment.
FOUR:
Charlotte and Lex say:
We were having so much fun in this shot! It felt like we spent most of the day laughing and having a wonderful time with everyone. We love that you can see our family in the background having a great time too!
FIVE:
Charlotte says:
We had some photos taken with a beautiful sunset, during which we stood in the long grass. I realised it was going to be a bit tricky to get out in my heels, so Lex very gallantly offered to carry me out! This photo makes us smile when we remember how much fun we had throughout the entire day.
What was the best decision you made about your wedding day? (advice to future couples)
Weddings can become time consuming to plan and expensive, if you let them. Discuss and decide together what is important to you both, and focus your attentions here. I couldn’t pin our best decision on one thing in particular, but as we had chosen them together, all the individual elements came together like the perfect jigsaw.
Is there anything you would do differently? (advice to future couples)
There’s nothing we would have done differently. Everything on the day came together just as we had envisaged it, the only thing we wish we could change is time, so that we could experience it all again!
Can you remember how you found out about Kathryn Edwards Photography?
I (Charlotte) asked my work friends for recommendations for a wedding photographer. Websites are great for looking at photographers’ portfolios, but I felt with something as personal as this that I would prefer a recommendation from someone I trusted. Andy (Hickson) and his wife Rach recommended you – they gave me the password so I could look at their wedding gallery to view a full set of photos and after hearing their testimony and seeing the lovely photos we didn’t need any further persuading.
[thanks you guys!]
My favourite 36 from the day
What a gorgeous wedding day this was. I loved Charlotte’s classic 50s style wedding dress and little bird cage veil. I loved the vintage styling and the camper van that took them to the venue. Charlotte and Lex got to the venue in Lex’s sports car, which was a beaut! It was lovely waving them off as they drove off from the church. The day continued with Wedding Photography at Floral Media and drinks and canapés in the lawned area. Its a fab venue to explore and the colours of all the flowers in bloom were just gorgeous.
I really had fun with the photographs. I particularly enjoyed our little evening shoot, and Lex carrying Charlotte across the long grass. It was very romantic and cute. I’m so pleased that was one of their favourites. I love that shot too. I really enjoyed the Vintage Wedding Singer who sang during the meal and even walked around connecting with the guests as he sang some classics from the 50s and 60s. Definitely fit with the vintage feel and he was very entertaining.
