Wedding Photography at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens

I was delighted when Sarah asked me to do her wedding photography at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens. I have known Sarah for years. She is one of my sister’s best friends and I used to babysit her and her siblings when they were small (I know I don’t seem old enough!) so it was an absolute honour to be asked to photograph her wedding.

Adjusting

As you can imagine, this year has been a crazy one for the wedding industry. For everyone getting married this year, and those who work in the industry. Things have been a little chaotic to say the least! Of my 27 weddings booked in at the beginning of the year, only 9 have gone ahead. With the rest postponing to next year, and some cancelling altogether. I have been lucky in that I seem to attract laid back couples who go with the flow, and all my weddings that have adjusted to new restrictions and gone ahead have been absolutely amazing. Sarah and Pete were no exception!

Marry now party later

Sarah and Pete decided to go ahead with their original date, with whatever restrictions may be in place. This started with a reduction to 30 guests, and then a couple of weeks before their wedding, Boris reduced the numbers again to just 15. But this didn’t stop this pair from forging on regardless. They had a wonderful wedding, tying the knot at Peter’s church in Tumbridge Wells, followed by a small reception at the stunning Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, which happens to be on Sarah’s back doorstep.

Riverhill Himalayan Gardens

When Sarah told me she was getting ready at her flat, which was located at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, I wasn’t prepared for quite what that meant. But her flat is literally located inside the grounds of these beautiful gardens, which are open to the public throughout the year and was Sarah’s back garden for the past 4 years.

The gardens are stunning and a god send for Sarah during Lockdown. I was so jealous of her. The gardens also happened to provide the perfect backdrop for wedding photos. We could have wandered around for hours finding places for photos. It was so pretty.

The hut for the wedding reception was the perfect size for their small party. It was decorated beautifully, and the reception was perfect. Indeed, it felt like any other wedding reception, just a little smaller. I don’t know why more people don’t chose to have smaller weddings. It was lovely. Sarah and Pete plan to have another larger celebration next year. But their wedding this year was so special and I was delighted to be there to photograph it! Oh, and just check out her shoes!
