Jemma & Lewis | Engagement Shoot at Burnt Stump

Engagement shoot at Burnt Stump

Whilst I was editing Jemma and Lewis’ engagement shoot photographs today, I thought to myself I just have to put a selection of these on my website. They are just too sexy not to share with the world! I love engagement shoots at Burnt Stump. It is such a lovely spot for photos. The ancient woodland provides the perfect backdrop. Especially in the evening with the light coming through the trees. And for a photographer like me, who loves all things woodland and rustic, it was just perfect.

Practice photos

I used to offer engagement shoots to all my couples whose wedding I photographed. So I have done hundreds over the years! These days in my new pricing structure, I am offering an engagement shoot as a part of my “two photographers package” or as an add on. I highly recommend my middle package anyway. But even if you just want to add the shoot onto your package after booking, it is a worthwhile addition.

One of the reasons is that it gives you an opportunity to practice having your photo taken. Unless you are a model or actor, most of you will not be used to having personal photo shoots. We are too used to selfies and having someone else take out picture sometimes feels strange. Nearly every couple I meet tells me that they don’t like having their picture taken. And nearly every couple I photograph tells me afterwards that it was a lot easier than they thought it would be!

Getting to know you

The second reason I like doing engagement shoots is that it gives us the opportunity to spend a little bit of time together, have a chat and just get to know each other a bit. I have had this confirmed time and time again by couples on their wedding day, who say that I don’t feel like a stranger because we have already met each other. Gabby and Sally wrote in their review: “I would recommend her engagement shoots too; it was a brilliant way to get to know her before our big day and it really made us feel at ease.”

I loved Sally and Gabby’s wedding. It was a beautiful relaxed day and I felt at home with their friends and family immediately. I remember them both remarking that they felt comfortable with me being around all day because we had already got to know each other a bit at the engagement shoot. Hopefully Jemma and Lewis will feel the same when I get to photograph their wedding later next year.
