Small weddings of 2020

Daniella and Ashley organised their wedding during the pandemic. For them, the restrictions of numbers was a great excuse to have a pared down wedding! And so the numbers worked perfectly for their small wedding. It was super intimate and lovely and another gorgeous sunny day! Due to restrictions, I was unable to photograph the ceremony. But I was waiting, along with most of their guests on the steps outside to photograph them being covered in confetti. One of Daniella’s favourite photos (and mine too!) As with all my small weddings of 2020, the love and intimacy and happiness really shone through. These two have been together since their school days. They have a gorgeous little girl, and another one on the way. I think the small wedding suited them and I really loved photographing it.

Colwick Hall

I have photographed a few weddings at Colwick Hall. It is a lovely venue with some great spots for photos. I really loved shooting through the flowers at the front of the house. Especially in that gorgeous sunlight. It was so dreamy! Colwick Hall is actually a wonderful place for small weddings. You can hire out the Bistro, and it is the perfect room for a close intimate celebration. I loved how magical the decor looked. The fairy lights and cherry tree blossom was perfect. I asked Daniella and Ashley for their feedback on holding a small wedding during a pandemic. Here is what Daniella had to say:

What were the benefits of having a small wedding?

It felt very intimate and personal to us.

Which parts of your day did you enjoy the most?

Seeing each other during the vows.

Which parts surprised you that you thought would be different or awkward or strange with less numbers but actually felt good, better, no different?

We thought the ceremony would be strange with only 4 guests however you just get lost in the moment. We also thought the wedding breakfast part would be strange with less numbers but it was just as magical

Can you pick a photo that brings back a memory that makes you laugh?

The ones when we were coming out of the registry office on the steps as we both had confetti in our eyes!

Can you pick a photo that makes you happy you went ahead with a small wedding?

The social distanced photos on the steps of the registry office. This will be part of history to explain in the future years to come.
