Rustic and Fun Wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse

I absolutely loved Louise and Tom’s rustic and fun wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse. I knew we would get on well after meeting them for the engagement shoot. Louise was so enthusiastic about my photos leading up to the wedding, which was lovely.

I was pretty excited about photographing this wedding, as the groom had called me up about a week before the wedding to tell me that there would be a little surprise for Louise during the speeches. He and a few of his fellow musician friends (Tom is a music teacher) would be bursting in to song at the end of his speech with one of Louise’s all time favourite songs by The Beach Boys (God Only Knows) As a proper romantic at heart, who lives for these sorts of romantic gestures, I was pretty thrilled that I would be witnessing a proper Love Actually moment!

Lots of giggles

Louise’s friends did a very good job of keeping it quiet in the morning, and a few glances were exchanged during bridal prep as we were chatting about music in the wedding. I loved the morning of the wedding. I always love bridal prep as I get to hang out before all the business of the day kicks in. Its nice to experience all the excitement and nerves and silliness with the bridal party as they get ready. Louise and her friends were a proper giggle to hang out with. Louise and her lovely family definitely had that hint of mild eccentricity and fun about them. I’m being polite of course. They are as mad as a box of frogs! So I probably fitted in quite well! 😉

Emotional

The ceremony was gorgeous too. Not a dry eye in the house. Louise and Tom are just quite clearly madly in love with each other and it totally showed during their very intimate exchange of vows. One of Tom’s students sang a classical piece during the signing of the register (I can’t remember what it was now, I’ll edit the post if someone jogs my memory, but it brought tears to my eyes!)

The Beach Boys!

I’m listening to the Beach Boys as I write this, which is quite fitting. So, after Tom’s speech, as promised he picked up his guitar and launched into the song. Then his musician friends who were dotted about the room all started joining in. It was fabulous! Needless to say, Louise was delighted and I think it went down very well indeed (well done Tom! #respect!)

Some of my other favourite moments – A rather spectacular confetti throw. Best confetti shots this year I think! Also some great evening photos in the wheat with big bubblegum balloons. The whole wedding party were a delight to photograph. Especially in the wheat field. Oh and not forgetting the Ceilidh dancing in the barn in the evening. Such a fun day. My second shooter Carolyn and I really enjoyed the wedding. I hope you enjoy our captures…
