Looking for your West Mill Wedding Photographer?

So you have stumbled upon one of the best wedding venues in Derbyshire and now you are looking for an experienced wedding photographer to capture your day. I enjoy returning to the West Mill year after year to capture beautiful weddings here. With its impressive interior spread over 4 floors, and huge windows that are great for portraits, it really is a wonderful venue to get married at whatever the weather!

A West Mill Wedding is always fun to photograph

I genuinely always love the vibes whenever I photograph a wedding at The West Mill. There must be something about the venue that lends itself to fun. Whether it is the impressive ceremony room, surrounded by original mill windows and beautiful stone floor or the confetti run in the courtyard, or hilariously try to get a picture of the entire wedding party from one of the windows.

Evening party vibes at The West Mill

Once the first dance is announced, and I head over to the dance floor, you can be sure that it will fill up in a few minutes and I will be right in the middle of it photograph all the dance floor action, wielding my camera at all sorts of angles whilst dancing my socks off to whatever party tunes you are playing!

Real weddings at The West Mill | Erin & Michael

It was delightful to be back at The West Mill for the wedding photography of Erin & Michael’s special day. With its industrial stone floors and rustic ceilings, and large original window features, The West Mill is one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph. A big fan of window light in my photography, the West Mill is a dream to work at. With all of its huge windows, it is great for both bridal portraits and couple portraits after the ceremony.

A spacious venue set over four floors

The towering old industrial mill is set over four floors. It is rather a unique and practical space for your wedding. Each floor is dedicated to a different part of your wedding. Thus making it very easy to have access to the whole venue all day. Firstly you have the ceremony taking place on the top floor, secondly, the drinks reception on the ground floor. Then you have the wedding breakfast on floor three and finally drinks and dancing on floor two. I love sneaking the couple away after confetti and family groups to the top floor for some fabulous stylised shots by the big windows.

Some of my favourite things about The West Mill:

  • The high ceilings and big industrial windows
  • The cobbled floor that picks up light
  • The courtyard
  • The weir and the water
  • The different floors for different parts of the day
