Wedding at Beechenhill Farm
I am super excited to be sharing these wedding photos from Gabby & Sally’s gorgeous wedding at Beechenhill Farm. What an awesome day it was with just about the kindest and sweetest couple you are ever likely to meet. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a nicer day with a nicer couple. All their friends and family were pretty darn awesome too. The venue was amazing, and it makes me a little sad to know they aren’t doing any more weddings there for the immediate future. It makes just about the perfect spot for a relaxed wedding. Set right bang in the middle of the Peak District National Park, I had to drive right into the sticks and through fields of sheep to get here. But what a spot it was! I was greeted by chickens roaming around the courtyard, and a little dog yapping at my feet, followed by two enormously happy brides; both getting ready at the farm. The sun was shining brightly and I knew right from the offset, this was going to be a great day!
Gabby and Sally’s favourite five
I asked Gabby and Sally to pick their favourite five images and give me the reasons why. I loved reading about their choices…

Kathryn was a ninja (we didn’t even know she was there) this gave us such a unique experience of our ceremony that we loved. You don’t get to see this when you’re stood up there. [I was such a ninja, they didn’t notice that that is me at the front and this one was taken by my awesome second shooter Laura! 😉 haha]

We both remember eating loads of confetti at this moment! We love this photo because it shows the joy of everyone and our whole group getting involved.

Our song mid ceremony. This was a moment of pure joy for us. Having a humanist celebrant meant we could choose any song we wanted and we went for crazy little thing called love. We weren’t sure if people would sing but everyone loved it. This is a real ‘us moment’ that we really cherish.

Weddings are so much about others, everyone gathering and celebrating but sometimes it’s the little moments that you share that feel the most unique. We remember going down the stairs after the ceremony and just having a little ‘we did’ whisper. This photo gets that moment!

Our wedding was about our families and friends coming together to celebrate with us and that’s why we loved our group shot! Gorgeous weather, gorgeous people and a brilliant photo that captures it.
What was the best decision you made about your wedding day? (advice to future couples)
Thinking about other people. Weddings are naturally about the two people involved but in our planning we set out to think about how others would experience the day and how we would string the story of the day together. We really think because of this effort the day went seamlessly and people had an amazing time. We’ve lost count of how many people say this was the best wedding they’d been. (People also loved the goody bags on the coach!)
Is there anything you would do differently? (advice to future couples)
Count yourselves in the guests for the meal! That was a last minute change we wish we had considered. Videod the speeches! Gabby was doing hers so can’t really remember those moments. We wish we had videoed them. That’s literally it! It was fantastic. Our advice would also be to really enjoy it and take moments together, it cliche but it does go so quickly!
Can you remember how you found out about Kathryn Edwards Photography?
We found another wedding on Instagram and we loved the style of the photos so we hunted down who took them! Kathryn was the perfect photographer for us and her style fitted our day beautifully! We love our photos, our album and we still talk about you to lots of people. [aww you guys!!!!!]
My 36 Photos:
There were an awful lot to chose from. So difficult to narrow it down to 36 to tell the story of the day. But I’ve had a go. There are too many moments to mention, but I will mention a few. I loved the absolute delight with which Sally greeted her friend from Australia, who she hadn’t seen for ages and who had flown in especially for the wedding. Moments like this really make a day special, and I loved capturing their fun and loving friendship. Sally and Gabby clearly have a LOT of fun together and this showed in the way they were with each other. They never stop laughing together and it was such a joy to capture. If I could pick one word to sum up the whole wedding it would be fun. Every single person there had fun. It was a glorious day, and I feel very lucky that these two picked me to capture it. I also had a lot of fun. Wonderful memories of a wonderful day!

I definitely want to say a big wow to the cake, created beautifully by BAKE in Ashbourne. Link to her details below. Gabby and Sally knew exactly what they wanted and it was beautiful. I don’t envy the drive over those cattle grids on a hot day with a delicately made chocolate cake in the boot. But it just about survived and looked AMAZING!!
Sally worked for many years in the catering industry so food was a very important part of the day to both Sally and Gabby. And they didn’t disappoint. The caterers were amazing and provided some delicious breads, canapés, and fabulous meal and evening buffet. It was amazing. So a big shout out to Jose Raine, whose details are also below.
