Bride and groom walking through woodland at Sherwood Glade wedding venue

Sherwood Glade wedding photography for Christina & Paul

Sherwood Glade is a beautiful tipi wedding venue tucked away in the heart of Nottinghamshire. Just off Mansfield road, it is surrounded by the magical charm of Sherwood Forest. It was the perfect venue choice for Christina and Paul and their Lord of the Rings inspired wedding. I loved everything about their day. From the relaxed morning vibes getting ready at Christina’s parents house in Farnham to the beautiful evening light woodland portraits in the glade.

Outdoor ceremony magic

I love an outdoor ceremony in the woods. There is something special about getting married under a canopy of trees, to the sound of bird song and rustling trees. It is very romantic and completely fitting for nature lovers and those obsessed with Lord of the Rings vibes. At Sherwood Glade, there is ample room for an outdoor ceremony. And should it rain the tipi can provide suitable cover.

I arrived at Sherwood Glade after spending the morning with Christina and her bridesmaids. I greeted Paul briefly for a few quick photos with his groomsmen before getting in position to photograph Christina and her dad walking down the aisle. The outdoor setting and celebrant led wedding was a gorgeous intimate touch for their personalised wedding celebrations.

Colourful confetti

A funny thing happened with the confetti at Christina and Paul’s wedding. Somehow their confetti got mixed up with some left over dried petals from a previous wedding. After the traditional wedding run, where these petals were chucked ceremoniously at bride and groom, Christina looked at me a bit perplexed and said “that wasn’t our confetti” She had bought some colourful paper confetti to throw (my favourite kind!) but there had been a mix up. However, we later found the confetti and did some additional confetti photos and I am so glad we did!

My favourite things about Sherwood Glade wedding photography:

  • The enchanting outdoor setting: Being in the secret glade, surrounded by ancient woodland really adds to the romance of this venue.
  • The large tipi, which can be decorated and customised to suit your taste. Providing an excellent cover should the weather turn wet, but also giving an outdoor feel to your wedding.
  • Sherwood Forest location: The magical Robin Hood setting lends itself to a fairytale wedding vibe. I love this vibe for lovers of the outdoors and fantasy stories such as Lord of the Rings.
  • Perfect location for evening portraits: Being able to sneak away into the woods in the evening as the sun is setting is ideal for those beautiful sunny evening portraits where the light dips and pokes through the branches of the trees beautifully. I love these sort of evening portraits so this setting suits my vibe perfectly!
