Wedding Photography at Newton House Barns
Lizzy and Chris had their wedding photography at Newton House Barns and it was such a wonderful day! It was my first wedding at the venue and I really enjoyed it. There were lots of lovely spots for photographs and it gave Lizzy and Chris the nice relaxed wedding they were hoping for. I always love taking couple portraits. I particularly enjoyed taking Lizzy and Chris for some photos after dinner when the sun was beginning to set.
The weather was perfect. Though mixed. It was raining as Lizzy and her bridesmaids arrived at the church for the ceremony, but cleared up as she and Chris walked out as a newly married couple. I got a lovely picture of the two of them walking out of the church looking at each other and it might be one of my favourite pictures from the day. Although there are so many, it is hard to choose. Basically they are looking at each other with a look that either says, I can’t believe we are married, or I can’t believe its stopped raining and the sun has come out! Perhaps both!
Morning Preparations (and some fabulous carpet!)
I love photographing bridal preparations on the morning of the wedding and Lizzy and Chris’ wedding was no exception! Lizzy and Chris had only recently moved into a beautiful new house that they had been doing up room by room, and managed to get some of the rooms finished in time for the wedding. It looked beautiful. However one of my favourite features of the house was the old carpet that apparently they plan to rip up. Just because it reminded me of the carpet that I used to have in my house growing up. And it also reminded me of the carpet in one of my favourite photographer Emma Case’s story (which you can read here) I got a few shots of the carpet of course and a lovely one of the two flower girls sitting on the stairs. They looked so cute!
36 Photos
As with all my blog posts, I am sticking to 36 photos (like a roll of film) This allows me to really curate my wedding posts by selecting my absolute faves that tell the story of the day. It is always hard to do. And this one was definitely hard. But some of my favourites include many of Lizzy’s flower crown, that she got from Etsy and just looked wonderful on her! The bridesmaids arriving at the church in the rain. Lizzy and Chris leaving the church in the sun. Some fabulous confetti moments. Some sunny portraits. A beautiful cake! Hugs from grandmas. Tears and laughter and shots at the bar. And of course some fantastic dance floor action at the end of the night!
Slide Show
If these 36 photos whet your appetite and you’d like to see more, there is a little 3 minute slide show at the bottom of the post, featuring some more moments from the day. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Lizzy and Chris. They are a lovely couple and were great fun to work with. Their friends and family were also great fun and I really enjoyed my time with them. I hope my photos provide them with the same good memories they provide me – of a lovely rainy and sunny day of happy people having lots of fun and laughter to celebrate the coming together of two wonderful people.
